Hi! I'm Cody! I'm an developmental evolutionary ornithologist with a keen interest in feathers. I mostly think about feathers and have been using single cell sequencing technologies to understand the cell types that make up feathers. I've created an atlas of feather cell types, modeled feather cell development, and proposed an evolutionary tree of feather cell types. I'm currently working on understanding feather coloration using single cell sequencing.
I am currently a PhD candidate in Richard Prum's lab in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale University. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley where I worked with George Bentley and Kate Wilsterman on Zebra Finch endocrinology. I am also interested in teaching and have worked with the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning as a graduate student fellow.
